The Belgian Financial Forum and The European Money and Finance Forum (SUERF) are delighted to invite you to the in-person conference “Banks and Financial Non-Banking Institutions: Competition or Complementarity and its Impact on Financial Stability,” taking place in Brussels.

This event will provide an opportunity to exchange views on the evolving relationship between banks and non-banking financial institutions (NBFIs) and its implications for the stability of the global financial system.

Opening remarks will be given by Steven Vanackere, Vice-Governor of the NBB and President of the Belgian Financial Forum and Ernest Gnan, Secretary General of SUERF. 

Francesco Mazzaferro (Head of the ESRB secretariat), Peter Praet (former chief economist of the ECB), Jean-Paul Servais (Chairman of the IOSCO board) and Claudio Borio (Head of Monetary and Economic Department of the BIS) will present their views on the topic during this conference.

A panel discussion will be held with Matti Leppälä (Secretary General of Pensions Europe), Federico Cupelli (Deputy Director Regulatory Policy EFAMA), Eric de Montgolfier (CEO Invest Europe), Thea Utoft Høj Jensen (Director general Insurance Europe), Michaela Zattler (Director Banking Supervision and Accounting Association of German Banks) and moderated by Prof Hans Degryse (KU Leuven).

Attendance is free, but spaces are limited. The conference will be preceded by a networking lunch. 

Language: The conference will be held in English. There will be no simultaneous translation
